Frequently Asked Questions

What is hypnotherapy?

The term 'hypnotherapy' refers to hypnosis for the natural treatment of physical and psychological symptoms. It is an altered state of awareness that can be used for self-help. Likened to daydreaming, you are focused but detached from conscious thought.

Hypnotherapy is very powerful process that will help you make long-lasting positive changes in your life. Find out more information and read scientific reports online.

Does hypnotherapy really work?

There are many myths and concerns about hypnosis. Hypnosis is not the magic show that you often see in the movies. Rather, hypnosis is a perfectly safe and pleasant experience that provides real results.

Hypnotherapy is guaranteed to work on anyone who is dedicated to making a change. You will experience results even after your first session. Scientifically proven, hypnotherapy replaces negative thoughts and behaviours with new and encouraging ways of thinking.

Hypnotherapy does not work against your will; it only works on people who want to change.

But I’ve tried everything. How is hypnotherapy different?

You’ve read endless books on how to lose weight or quit smoking and still haven’t achieved any results. Why? This is a common feeling shared by many clients. They are fed up and tired of looking for help, and come to Life in Sync as a last resort.

The answer lies in that you are asking your conscious mind to change for you. This is incredibly difficult as no amount of willpower, determination or logical thinking can help you shift the barriers that get in your way.

Hypnotherapy works quickly and effectively. Hypnotherapy taps into your subconscious mind, and promotes a connection on a personal level that no book can change for you. Mind over matter – only you can help yourself.

How does hypnosis feel? What is a typical hypnotherapy session like?

Hypnosis is often described as being half-awake, or in a trance – a natural state of relaxation. You have 100% control at all times, and will not fall asleep. All you have to do is relax and reflect on the suggestions put forward by your hypnotherapist, which are in line with your own internal goals and beliefs. Sessions run for 1 to 1.5 hours, and each session consists of hypnotherapy and counselling.

What if I can't be hypnotised?

Every normal person is hypnotisable, that is those with an average IQ and no severe mental disorders.  Therefore, virtually anyone can achieve successful results with hypnosis.

How will I know if I am hypnotised?

Most people can't tell the difference between the hypnotised state and the waking state.  Some people feel relaxed and lethargic, others feel a sort of lightness.  One thing that people do notice is an inexplicable change in their daily behaviours.

How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required can vary. Most clients experience results immediately, and walk away from Life in Sync completely empowered after just a few sessions.
